Appearance & shortcuts

Themes, text sizes, large-file handling and keyboard shortcuts.

Open Settings from the bottom of the left rail. It has four categories: Appearance, Editor, Intelligence and System. This page covers the first two. Intelligence is covered in Automatic model selection and Smart tools & web search, and System in Installation and Troubleshooting.

Appearance

Theme

Under Appearance, use the Theme menu to choose Dark or Light. The theme applies everywhere: the interface, the editor, the terminal, diffs and syntax colors.

Text sizes

Text sizes has three independent controls, and each updates immediately:

Control Applies to
Editor text Code editors and diff editors.
Chat text Messages, Markdown, activity and the composer.
Interface text The sidebar, tabs, toolbars, panels and dialogs.

A live preview underneath shows the effect.

Editor

Large file handling

Very large files can make an editor slow. Under Large file handling, the Large-file threshold sets the size above which a file opens read-only, with the language server disabled, instead of the normal editable path. The threshold is in megabytes: it defaults to 5 MB and can be set from 1 MB to 50 MB. Reset restores the default.

Binary files always get an unsupported-file preview instead, whatever their size.

Keyboard shortcuts

Settings → Editor → Keyboard shortcuts shows the shortcuts Rusty uses. The defaults are:
